INTRODUCTION 

The Nagoya University Festival (Meidaisai) might be considered as the biggest festival in Nagoya University, which is usually held in the first week of June every year. And perhaps it also one of the biggest student`s social and cultural exchange event in Aichi prefecture, and in the heart of ‘center of excellence’of Chubu region. The university itself has the number of about 12,000 students included 1,200 of those of international students from 71 countries. It is not to mention many parties and societies participated in that event as well. That is why this event is worth to be put in the first priority as to promote the salient features of each country’s cultures and developments, in terms of arts performances, foods exhibition, and the exposure of recent country’s development progress.

—Nagoya Chapter—as an organization for Indonesians who are currently studying and pursuing different courses in Japanese Universities and Institutions in Nagoya, feels the importance of benefiting such event as to link up her country’s salient features promotion and to announce all interested parties about the real Indonesia. And with this radiant spirit, we strongly believe this outstanding opportunity could be stand side by side with the concomitant efforts to build a better future for Indonesia.

 

In order to bring about the aforementioned issues, ISA-Japan, Nagoya Chapter has been organizing itself and participating in the Nagoya University Festival this year by introducing some new features of Indonesian arts performances and its international exchange evidence, foods exhibition, and the exposure of recent country’s development progress.

 

OBJECTIVES

·        To promote the Indonesian cultures, in terms of arts performances, foods exhibition, and recent country’s development progress.

·        To strengthen the on going international social and cultural exchange between Indonesians and her counterparts in other countries.

·        To provide the better understanding about the development progress of Indonesia.

 

 

SCOPE OF ACTIVITIES 

Three main activities are proposed: Indonesian arts performances, Indonesian foods exhibition, and distribution of leaflet/brochures of Indonesian recent development progress.

Indonesian’s Art Performances. This activity will present the well-known Bali dances and Indonesian folksongs not only by Indonesian but also by Japanese professional performers.

Foods Exhibition. This activity will conduct an exposure of Indonesian traditional foods as well as its specific tastes.

The Exposure of Recent Development Progress. This activity is aimed to exhibit the recent Indonesian development progress in leaflet and brochures.
